šŸƒā€ā™€ļø Fun Fact Friday: My Other Hobby—Running!

ree

If you would’ve told my younger self that I’d one day love running, I would’ve laughed out loud. As a kid—and even through college—I hated it. But in my mid-20s, I stood on the sidelines of a marathon, and something shifted. I was completely inspired by the energy, determination, and emotion in every runner that passed by. I didn’t just want to cheer them on—I wanted to be one of them.

So, I signed up for a 5K.

Let’s just say it was a humbling experience. I got shin splints, had no clue how to pace myself, and pretty much thought I might die crossing the finish line. But I stuck with it. I ran a 10K next, then kept building—eventually running my first (and only) marathon just two years later.

These days, running looks a little different.

After three back surgeries and knowing firsthand what it’s like to not even be able to walk, I’m incredibly grateful just to run at all. Now, I lace up my shoes and run 1–2 miles, a few days a week. And honestly? That feels like a gift.

Running clears my mind, gets me outside, and reminds me of how far I’ve come—physically and mentally. It’s not about distance anymore, it’s about gratitude. I’ll never take it for granted.

What’s something you once thought you couldn’t do—but now feel thankful you can? I’d love to hear your story. šŸ’›
